I’ve been on assignment for the last two years traveling the world. Recently I’ve discovered something that should upset you a lot if you have any kind of feelings at all. If not, then you should go to your nearest Emergency Room, because you’re probably brain dead. This isn’t good…

It all has to do with palm oil, a substance that comes from trees. Unfortunately, palm oil is a lucrative commodity, but the bad news is that the habitat of the orangutan has to be destroyed in order to get to the oil. This sucks because these people-like primates will have no place to live and may go extinct. The worst place in the world to be an orangutan is Borneo where trees are falling fast and palm oilis flowing into your foods.

What to Do:

First, NEVER BUY ANYTHING WITH PALM OIL as an ingredient.

Second, when you see palm oil, write to the food company and COMPLAIN LIKE A SONOFABITCH with outrage and indignant tones.

Third, support the groups that are trying to save orangutans. One of them is Borneo Orangutan Survival in the United Kingdom (that’s Great Britain).

If you want to see some outrageously cute and heart-warming videos of orangutans, go to this website and put on your fluffy slippers, because you’re in for a treat: savetheorangutan.co.uk, or the U.S. website, http://redapes.org
